How it works

See it first. Then decide.

No pitch decks or mockups on a napkin. We build the real thing, put it online, and let it speak for itself.

  1. We build your preview, free

Think of it as a neighborly hello. We take what's already public about your business, like your hours, menu, services and reviews, and craft a site that fits you. There's no cost and nothing to sign.

  2. You see it live

Your preview runs at a private address like yourbusiness.codecalligraphy.com. Open it on your phone, show your staff, and tell us what to change.

  3. Go live with hosting

Love it? We connect your domain and host it on our managed servers. Then we keep it fast, secure and up to date on a simple monthly plan.

Services

Everything your site needs, handled.

One Richmond team for the whole job, from the first draft to the day-to-day upkeep. You'll always know who's looking after your site.

Design & build

A custom site that looks like your business, not a template. Mobile-first, quick to load, and written so customers find what they need right away.

Managed hosting, security first

Your site runs on hardened servers we operate and watch ourselves, with automatic TLS certificates, regular backups and monitoring. If something looks off, a real person sees it and fixes it.

Updates & changes

New hours, a seasonal menu, a staff photo, or a holiday closure. Send us a note and we'll make the change, so you never have to fight a site builder.

Refreshes

Businesses grow and change. Every so often we freshen up your design, photos and wording so the site still feels current.

SEO basics

Clean page structure, clear titles and descriptions, sitemaps, and local business details search engines understand. Honest groundwork, with no ranking promises.

Google Business Profile help

We help you claim, tidy up and link your Google Business Profile, so your hours, photos and website match everywhere customers look.

À la carte

Every site starts with the essentials. When your business needs a little more, we can build the feature to fit and run it right alongside your site.

Built for a real client

Live puppy cams for a local dog daycare

The kennel's internet isn't choked anymore, and customers watch their pups on their phones without lag.

Before
Every viewer opened a new camera stream. Video and web ran as two separate systems, and the page wasn't built for phones.
The fix
Viewers now share the existing streams, and video and web run as one system. We rebuilt the page mobile-first, so it feels like an app on phones, scales cleanly to desktop and matches the client's site. We also added an analytics dashboard.
The result
About 85% less bandwidth, faster switching between cameras, and one server retired.

Neighbors first

We're your neighbors. Engineers, too.

We live here. We shop, eat, and get our cars fixed at the same places you do. When you call about your site, you're talking to someone from Richmond who knows your business, not a ticket queue in another time zone.

And behind the friendly faces is serious experience. We're a small Richmond team, with a wider network of specialists when a project calls for it. Code Calligraphy is the web studio of DNEPC Technologies, led by a network and security engineer with more than 20 years in enterprise environments, including hospital systems, universities and state agencies. Your corner shop gets that same care.

Our team includes a web developer trained in classical art, so design here gets an artist's eye, not just a template.

How we keep your site safe and running
  • Right here in Richmond

We know the neighborhoods because we live in them too. Your site is built by people who call this place home.

  • We'll meet you in person

We'll sit down with you, at your shop or over coffee, and walk through your preview in person.

  • Real engineers, real answers

No call centers. When you call or write, you get our team: people who know your site and can fix it.

  • Secure and fast by default

Hardened servers, automatic TLS, backups and monitoring come standard, and lean pages load quickly even on a weak signal.

Security and the three R's

Safe, steady, and quick to recover.

Reliability, robustness and resiliency sound like big-company words. For your business they mean something simple: your site stays safe, keeps working, holds up when it's busy, and stays up through an outage.

Security

Locked down from day one, so there's less for anyone to break into.

  • Every server gets only the access it needs, and nothing more. Hardened, least-privilege setups. Monitoring uses read-only accounts.
  • Admin tools can't be reached from the public internet, and repeated wrong passwords lock the door. Internal-only admin interfaces; login lockout after failed attempts.
  • Passwords and keys live in locked-down files, never in code or email. Plus automatic TLS and strict security headers on every site.

Reliability

It keeps working, day in and day out.

  • Monitored around the clock, with problems caught from real metrics, not guesses.
  • Configurations are backed up nightly with version history, and we get alerts on changes or failed backups.
  • Kept patched and up to date, so small problems don't grow into big ones.
  • Our 90/10 rule: about 90% of the work is proactive patching, monitoring and upkeep, so only about 10% is ever reactive, and that means far less downtime.

Robustness

It performs in spite of demand, holding up under load and traffic spikes.

  • One live webcam system we built pulls each camera once, no matter how many people are watching.
  • Lean, hand-built pages stay fast, even on a weak phone signal.
  • Every site has its own resource limits, so one busy site can't slow down another.

Resiliency

It stays up in spite of an outage or impact.

Hosting powered by the sun, backed up twice.

The hosting environment runs on rooftop solar, backed by a battery system and a standby generator with automatic transfer switching. Three independent power sources mean a utility outage doesn't take your site down.

  • Redundant compute, so a single server failure doesn't take your site down.
  • Off-site backups, so your site and data survive even a total loss at the primary location.
  • The solar panels are split across independent arrays, so one fault doesn't drag down the rest.
  • Services restart themselves automatically if something fails.
  • Our webcam stream keeps playing when a viewer's phone switches networks mid-stream.

FAQ

Good questions, plainly answered.

Is the preview really free?

Yes. Think of it as a neighborly hello. We build your preview at no cost and with no obligation. If it isn't right for you, just say so and we'll take it down, no hard feelings.

I already have a website. Can you still help?

Absolutely. If your current site is outdated, slow or hard to update, we can build a fresh version and you can compare the two side by side before deciding anything.

Who owns my domain and content?

You do. Your domain stays in your name, and your words and photos are yours. We can help you register or move a domain if you need it.

Where is my site hosted?

On servers that DNEPC Technologies runs and monitors directly, not a faceless mass-hosting platform. Every site gets TLS (the padlock), security headers, backups and monitoring.

How do I request changes?

Just send us a note with what you need, like new hours, a new photo or a price update. Changes are billed as time and materials at $70 an hour in half-hour increments ($59.50 an hour on Growth). See the billing guide for details.

Will it work on phones?

Yes. Every site is designed mobile-first, because that's where most of your customers will find you.

Can you help me show up on Google?

We set up solid SEO basics and help with your Google Business Profile. Nobody can honestly guarantee rankings, but we make sure you're giving search engines everything they need.
